My New Secretary Desk

Since downsizing my space, I was in need of a small desk–one that could fit all of my office/ planner accessories. I prefer to be as organized as possible and grabbing office supplies from my night stand just wasn’t cutting it!

Even though this current place is incredibly modern, I was on the hunt for a traditional piece–one that I’ve wanted for years. I’ve always loved the look of a secretary desk. I especially the hutch or piece that folds down so that the attractive little table turns into a desk! It’s a great place to keep office supplies and other necessities that you don’t want lying around–simply close up the hutch and you’re back to having a classic piece that’s perfect to display pictures and other treasures.

I was lucky enough to score this piece on Facebook Market place for just $50! It’s a well made piece–solid cherry wood. Truly I feel like a scored an amazing deal. While my current living space is overly modern, I was able to find a place in the bedroom to house the desk. Because my bedroom is carpeted, I didn’t have to worry about two very different shades of wood driving me nuts! My bedroom now has a beautiful traditional desk and I’m able to productively work (my dressing table chair is the perfect height!).

Since all of my overflow decorations are in storage, I decorated in a minimal way–creating a mini gallery wall above the desk. I think the room now has a beautiful mix of traditional and modern!
