Vintage Recipe for Orange Tea Bread

Orange Tea Bread sits on a table with a silver tea set and two roses

There’s nothing I enjoy more than flipping through a vintage cookbook. I enjoy seeing what was deemed delicious and en trend. A few years ago I came across this gem of a cookbook called Afternoon Tea by Angela Hynes. The book focuses on afternoon tea recipes which is right up my alley! It was made in 1987 so the pictures have that hazy 1980’s Linda Evans / Joan Collins circa “Dynasty” type glowy vibe but also, I find the pictures to be absolutely charming. The author is British so many of the images have that English Country House feel that I’ve come to love and appreciate.

I thought it would be fun to make this now vintage recipe for Orange Tea Bread and see if it’s a winner! I did slightly modify the ingredients to make the tea bread gluten-free and dairy-free.
